Eyemouth- plein air

Here's a great spot I found a couple of weeks ago down at Eyemouth- about 45mins from Edinburgh. I had a day off and the sun was shining so I decided to head down the coast for some plein air painting.
Cliffs at Eyemouth (sketch)
Oil on board
8x10 inches

Here's where I got to after about an hour and a half- though by this stage the light was really starting to change as it was hitting the cliffs. Since this was the main focus of the painting, I decided to call it a day. It's just a sketch, but something I could use for a studio painting.

Interesting to see a seascape from you Ryan. I think this would make a great painting and it would be interesting to see a figure or cat used to add interest. Lovely use of colour and great brush work.

Thanks Caroline- its the first landscape I've done for wee while now. I was just inspired to get out and about in the nice weather!

Hi Ryan....
What a great place to do some plein air work. Nice to see your rig out there getting some Scottish sun too. We're having a heat wave right now but it is soon to get cooler since Fall is upon us. Those huge rocks out there have to be a pretty awesome sight up close. You did a good job of capturing them here. Good work Ryan.

Hey Ron

Thanks for looking in!

Yes that was an excellent spot- I found quite a few other good ones as well but I need to get a few days off to get down there and paint again. The cliffs were great and further up the coast there was St Abbs head which has great scenery and a lighthouse that I'd love to do.
We've got nice sun today as well though definitely not a heat wave like you guys would get!
